COMPOSER'S SHOWCASE

CALL FOR SCORES

Composers, students, and community members are invited to submit original compositions written for a full symphonic pops orchestra.

Submission deadline:   August 10, 2026

Instrumentation:            Full symphonic instrumentation is preferred

Entry fee:                        $20 per submission

Maximum length:         13 minutes (longer pieces may not be performed in their entirety)

Applicants are encouraged to consider one or more of the suggested themes below, and preference will be given to Pops concert literature that appeals to audiences of all ages and musical tastes, including families and children.

  • Oceans/high seas adventure
  • Tall tales and legends
  • December holiday music – especially for 2-3 octave hand bell ensemble with orchestra
  • Musical mysteries or escape room plots (could include narrator, actors, singers, or spoken roles)

The winner will receive a small honorarium and an opportunity to have their work performed live in the 2026-27 season. Finalists will be notified by September 1, 2026, and will then be asked to provide individual orchestra parts for the final screening.
